Pull it…poke it…squeeze it…only while you can.
I’ve written before with how fascinated my son is with his penis. With as much as this kid manipulates it, thank goodness it doesn’t hurt him now. I do not look forward to the day where he just grabs and pulls it like normal and the ear piercing scream comes out of his little mouth. I know that day will come, but until them, play away my son. I know you are only discovering and learning about your body. When the day the pain comes mommy will be there to give you the love until it all goes away.
I wrote this (above) some time back, and finally decided to post it. He is still fascinated (see below).
Just yesterday, the hubby told me that our son said from the back of the car: “It’s big!”
Yes people, our son had moved his shorts and underwear aside while in his car seat and began playing with himself. Ok, I thought I had at least 10 more years before this started. Not at 3. So we just tell him that is something to do in private and not in front of mommy and daddy. Until later when he plays again…

My 4-year old does EXACTLY the same thing, “It’s big” comments and all. And although I do occasionally tell him that he really should only engage in what is clearly self-stimulation when he’s alone, the case is he loves to do it while seated on top of me, sucking his thumb and watching cartoons. This combination seems to send him into a sort of pleasure-filled drugged state of total relaxation, and whenever he’s tired or just bored this is what he wants to do. I think it’s a form of self-medicating (or self-drugging) and when combined with the cartoon-watching, might be preventing him from getting other, more cognitive-growth-enhancing types of stimulation.
What with the “boobies” posting on Sexually Frustrated Husband, and this behaviour, it sounds like our kids are very similar indeed in this respect.
